Digital Media Class

Posted: September 30, 2012 in Announcements, assignments

Don’t forget that tomorrow, October 1st,  your CD label is due. You only need to complete one design, make sure that it has the following elements that we previously discussed: unusual text effect, a texture (that you developed from scratch or modified in Photoshop), and a graphic (that you’ve modified in Photoshop).

• Print out your completed CD design in color and bring to class.

• The dimensions of the finished label should be about 4.5 inches.

• Your completed electronic file will be placed in the drop box, with all the layers visible.

• No flattened files.

• All work must be done in Photoshop, and Photoshop only.

I’m looking for comments and feedback on the new items posted on the Tips page, as well as the Training page. Let me know if you have found any other links that you feel have been helpful for you, during the course of your work.

Don’t forget to bring your food stuff tomorrow, Sept 24th, to keep your energy up for the Photoshop Metabolism!

Old Photo Restoration project due this Tuesday, Sept. 25th. Be sure in addition to using all the restoration tools demonstrated in class, that you have adjusted the Levels if necessary, used the Sharpen Filters, and the Dodge and Burn tools. Make sure you have both the Before and After picture, saved in your file(s) when you come to class. Include a small word document that describes your steps. All files will be labeled as such: LastName_FirstName_PhotoRestore. You need to turn in the native file format .psd, with all the layers intact. We will print out your Before and After restoration projects in class, on Photo Glossy Paper. Bring Black Matboard or Black Foam Core to mount your projects in class for a Presentation Discussion.

Don’t forget your 5 Text effects and 5 Textures are due tomorrow, Sept. 24th for the Digital Media Class. You are to turn in your effects and textures into the Drop Box, labeled as such: LastName_FirstName_Text Effect 1.psd. (or _Texture1.psd….and so forth). I must be able to see all of the layers, so you will not be turning in any jpeg files, only the native format of .psd. These are your exploration of the techniques that you plan to use for your CD label. See: http://www.absolutecross.com, http://www.photoshopcafe.com for some examples. Remember, the Alien Text effect we did in class counts as one of the Text effects.

Contact me here or by email if you have any questions. Don’t forget to comment on the blog question, and you must be on time for class for your participation points to count in class.

I’m looking forward to seeing the effects and textures you’ve been working with.
